West GARDEN SCULPTURES WITH A DIFFERENCE If you think buying a garden ornament meant choosing between mass produced objects at garden centres or highly expensive individually commissioned pieces, think again. Iron and Stone bridge this gap, selling unique hand-carved stone sculptures from Zimbabwe. Each piece is a one-off, created by sculptures who, although not formally trained, have a technical and intuitive knowledge of the stone handed down through generations... |

ADD NEW ANGLES Iron and Stone, based in London, are a company who are importing beautiful Shona sculptures from Zimbabwe. These sculptures are hand carved in hard stone and each one is unique. They are fired and treated with beeswax to give a rich lustre and are frost proof, making them suitable for water gardens. Why not place your sculpture against a backdrop of shrubs and grasses, or in a hidden spot where it waits to cause an element of surprise? These pieces make it easy to contrast texture with shapes, including feathery plants against smooth surfaces or, big leafed cultivars sited next to angular pieces. They can also be placed next to or on water, this will create still reflections or broken images with the moving water. Prices range from £100 to £500 and delivery is included in the price. To find out more about these original pieces telephone Iron and Stone on 020 7722 2198. |
